When you think about rappers with versatility, swag, style and relevance, Is-K is known to be just that rapper. Born and raised in the streets of South Carolina, Is-K has a message that is not only potent, but relevant to the struggle and everyday life.
His music is so real because Is-K grew up in the struggle. He lost both his father and his mother at an early age, and was forced to grow up on the streets. He had to look for outside influences to help him in his journey to manhood, and found one of his greatest influences within…his music.
Music became not only his passion, but his way to escape the life of crime and hustling that had gotten him locked up and catching charge after charge. Before he knew it, Is-k had become a convicted felon. So, unlike many rappers today that talk a good game, Is-k is the real thing.
Is-k became so inundated and overtaken with his love and passion for music that he began crossing over different genres. He not only raps, but also writes R&B music as well.
“I don’t conform to what everybody else is doing,” says Is-K. “I make it personal.”
The authenticity of Is-K’s music and lyrics has catapulted him to “superstar” status in his area. And of course, he gets a lot of love from the streets and the ladies.
Is-K has performed on stage with Nappy Roots and continues to perform in Atlanta, GA and across the Carolinas. He is currently working on his debut album entitled, “R.E.A.L.” under the T.R.T. Entertainment umbrella. R.E.A.L., which is also the title of his first single, stands for “Rappin’ Earning a Living”. So, be on the look out for his album to release in 2008.
