South Carolina is known for producing revolutionary people who have helped to change the face of our society from President Andrew Jackson to Educator Mary McLeod Bethune to Civil Rights Leader Jesse Jackson. Following in that tradition, South Carolina has now given birth to one of Hip Hop’s newest and revolutionary voices, the Wise Boyz.

The Wise Boyz consists of Vicious, Prese and Lokey, who have dedicated themselves to educated audiences about real life and real situations with their breakthrough style, which encompasses their many influences from Tupac to Biggie Smalls.

“We consider ourselves to be ‘Reality Rappers’,” says Lokey. “We rap about life.”

Real life is something that the Wise Boyz definitely know about. Growing up in a small town in South Carolina that is ridden with heavy drug trafficking, each of the group’s members has an intimate story with street life and the affects that it has on the family. It was Vicious that started rapping at the age of 13 as a way of finding something constructive to do with his time. His young friends, Lokey and Prese soon followed. Vicious is now 21, and Lokey and Prese are 18 years old.

At such a young age, their music exemplifies their youth with club/dance songs like, “G-Walk” to their street education and wisdom in “I Grind”. “I Grind” speaks of the struggle – “the come-up” and how we have to struggle to survive and get ahead.

“I want everybody to hear me and the group out, and change their minds about what we talk about,” says Prese. “I want to change the game and let people know how real it is out here, and that we’re not the people they thought we were. We want people to think the best of our generation and not down us. It’s all about living.”

Living and real life situations is exactly what you’re going to get from the Wise Boyz, who have traveled the country performing in shows with Nappy Roots, Anthony Hamilton, The Anointed Pace Sisters, Coko from SWV and numbers of others. They are currently recording their debut album with T.R.T Entertainment in Atlanta, GA.
